Prague conference “The European Year of Healthy Ageing – an Active Lifestyle of Seniors”
Coordinators of the University of the Third Age of the Czech University of Life Science Prague took part at the conference on the topic “THE EUROPEAN YEAR OF HEALTHY AGING – AN ACTIVE LIFESTYLE OF SENIORS“.
The conference was organized by the Association of the Czech Universities of the Third Age and was held in the conference hall of the Czech Senate on 16 and 17 January 2012. The conference programme focused on these main areas:
- courses curricula for senior learners in the Czech and Slovak Republic
- evaluation of the centralized development project “ Development of Universities of the Third Age at the Czech universities
- European year of active ageing
- inter-generation solidarity in the Czech Republic
WikiSenior: Sharing knowledge
From 21st to 25th of January 2012, a group of 30 students participated in the workshop WikiSenior: Sharing knowledge. This initiative is framed within the project SeniorsKS contemplated in and in it take place methodological frameworks where older people are integrated into the technological society to know and take full advantage of it. wiki2With a 2.0 tool web is favored learning, the defense of rights and the ability to teach and convey.
Student Exchange at the University of Zvolen and the University of Prague
The Technical University of Zvolen and the Lifelong Learning Department in Slovakia on 17th and 18th December 2012, received the Senior Citizens' University [UJI] in the University Jaume I and those responsible of this. It was a busy day where both institutions shared methods, guidelines, new proposals and above their respective learned about the LifeLong Learning Programs.
In this exchange are students who have a leading and basic role, being responsible for their exposition. Senior Citizens' University did four public expositions that reflected the social-cultural context of their province, the proposed Lifelong Learning at the SCU and how Christmas is lived by Spanish. They also visited the different faculties of Zvolen University and were welcomed by the Rector responsible for it. At the same time they knew the importance attached to the environment in Slovakia and how they use this area, being the third largest forest country of Europe (44%).
The Technical University of Zvolen and the Lifelong These exchanges also strictly in the academic contexts serve to know other countries are developed within the project Grundgtvig SeniorsKS working on e-inclusion of older people in the knowledge society: through participation, dissemination of knowledge and new technologies . The exchange continued at Prague University, at the Institute of Education and Communication which depends the continuing education program. There, the responsible explained to the participants of the exchange, the program and the methodology used in their studies that have over a thousand students, some of whom received the SCU students. The prepared papers were presented and later took place a casual Christmas Party, because were dates before this.
Project Presentation SeniorsKS
Students who participated in the exchange with the universities of Prague and Svolen made on 18.02.2013 a presentation about the Czech Republic and Slovakia: they were fantastic and they showed us some European countries often unknown. Thanks to all those who came! You also may possible that we will be enthusiastic and we continue to work to keep learning.
Sharing experiences, "The St. James way"
At the [UJI], take place an exhibition about "Visions of the Way, the way of the stars" prepared by a group of senior learners. The Camino de Santiago is the first European Cultural Route (1998), is one of the great wealth common to all Europeans. Cultural and moral heritage of the West and of all humanity, this ancient route has been traveled by millions of people from the Middle Ages to the present. Thus the sample is a reflection of an intense journey: from outside and from within. A very special pilgrimage in which everyone receives the influence cultural sensitivity permeating places, roads and people: a joyful, others silent, attentive to the different approaches circumstantial between towns and cities us closer to Santiago. The exhibition has been open to the public from 12 to 22 March 2013.
Danube-Networkers Lectures, DALEC – “Media Project Old and Young along the Danube”
During the Seniors KS project meeting in Prague between 2-3. July 2012 ZAWiW shared the idea of the project DALEC with other participants Between December 2011 and July 2012, the Donaubüro Ulm/Neu-Ulm in cooperation with scientific education and civil society institutions from five countries (Germany, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, and Romania) implemented the “Media Project Old and Young” with the thematic focus “Values and Paths along the Danube”. The project´s subject corresponded to this year´s topic of the city of Ulm and the motto of the Danube Festival 2012: “New spirit along the Danube”. The key tasks were assigned to the Centre for General Scientific Continuing Education of Ulm University Five lectures on scientific subjects at four different locations (Ulm, Budapest, Belgrade, Craiova and finally again in Ulm) were prepared by scientists for lay people, held live to an audience in the respective locations and transmitted over the Internet in an online lecture series DALEC to the other project locations. The lectures were discussed nationally and transnationally. The lectures were translated into the project partners´ native languages. After the lecture, indepth discussions took place via Internet forums. The fifth event accompanied by an expert discussion took place in the frame of the International Danube Festival 2012 in Ulm.

During the final conference of the project Seniors KS in Graz seniors from Ulm shared their experiences gained by the online lecture series DALEC2 focused on the topic “Changes of perspectives between generations and cultures along the Danube”.The second DALEC project took place between March and April 2013 in cooperation with the Donaubüro Ulm/Neu-Ulm, the ZAWiW of the Ulm University and other institutions from Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia. During the lectures the following questions were discussed from various points of view in relation to age and place of origin in the Danube Region: Does the travel up and on the Danube connect us? What are the effects of the changed age structure in the Danube Region? How is tradition in the Danube Region seen by different generations? The lectures were held by scientists in 14-day intervals and were simultaneously transmitted per video-conference to the other partners´ locations. Each lecture was followed by a moderated discussion with participants from all four countries. The lectures were given in English and consecutively translated in the respective national languages.
